Welcome to my blog!
Hello Reader, welcome to my blog!
My name is Murali and I am a data scientist with a background in enabling teams to become data driven organizations. Over the last ten years, I have been working with data in a number of industries including Banking, Insurance, Logistics, Retail, and Telecommunications, and now I spend most of my time helping teams and organizations leverage their data to drive fact-based decisions.
Ever since my first Tableau Conference in 2015, I have seen many people create blogs and generate great success through this medium! In the past seven years, online content has evolved quite a bit. Maybe I’m late to the game but maybe I still have something to offer to the community.
What do I want to achieve with this blog?
Main Objective:
Have fun!
Side Quests:
Learn some new skills
Teach some new skills
Celebrate me and my achievements (if I don’t do it, who will?)
Share what is possible
Throughout my career, I have appreciated the value of incremental improvements. Version 1 of most of my deliverables suck by my standards! Version 2 is a noticeable improvement and after more feedback, experiments, trial and error, Version 3 is usually where things start to really shine!
This space will be no different. My priority is to build consistency in creating and driving content. As I keep going with this I will get better so don’t judge my initial work too harshly and criticism is always welcome!
The Growth Mindset
This is something I value a lot! I’m not the type of person who will sit there and keep doing the same thing. That can’t possibly be what life is about! I would rather enhance and automate my tasks so that they can run automagically on a schedule or be simple enough to be handed over to someone else. This will allow me to work on new projects and give me the opportunity to come up with fresh ideas and innovative solutions.
This mindset isn’t just for me, I like to encourage everyone to consider it! I understand that this isn’t for everyone, and people can be in different stages in life that may help or hinder this. All I’m saying is, that it is okay to try.
Here are the main tools I utilize to draw on this growth mindset:
Journaling
Productivity
Effective use of technology
Continuous education
Hobbies
Travel
This list is not sorted in any particular order and each element has a very important position in establishing my growth mindset. More of this will be featured throughout the blog to demonstrate how this helps me grow. Taking after my engineering nature: there must be a better way!
